- Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Express Clinic
Description
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our Pediatric Express Clinic team. This role offers the opportunity to provide urgent, high-quality care to pediatric patients from birth through age 18. You will work collaboratively with pediatricians and nursing staff in a fast-paced, supportive environment dedicated to exceptional patient care.
The Pediatric Express Clinic serves as an extension of our pediatric department, typically seeing an average of 30 patients per day during the winter months. This allows us to accommodate sick visits when primary pediatric providers are fully booked.
Schedule: Full-Time Opportunity, with possible extension to 7:00 PM. The schedule is flexible and assigned daily based on patient volume and clinic needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of pediatric patients, including obtaining medical histories and performing age-appropriate physical examinations with accurate documentation.
- Prescribe and manage both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments tailored to each patients needs.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relevant to pediatric care.
- Respond promptly and professionally to patient and staff inquiries, prioritizing urgent needs.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans using advanced clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain clear, positive communication with staff to support departmental goals and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Facilitate smooth transitions for patients within and between healthcare settings.
- Provide education and resources to patients, families, and staff to support informed decision-making and promote health literacy.
- Serve as a proactive agent of change by introducing nursing innovations that enhance patient care quality.
- Promote healthy behaviors and self-care skills through compassionate counseling and education.
- Maintain a vigilant and safe practice environment at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the clinic and department.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education required for licensing.
- At least one year of nursing experience, with preference for experience in pediatric acute illness management and urgent care.
- Familiarity with primary care practices is advantageous.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by a Compact State (within 6 months) or Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) (within 6 months).
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner in one of the following areas:
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (Adult) (ACNPC) - American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN)
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (Adult-Gerontology) (ACNPG-AG) - AACN OR
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC) - ANCC
- Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC) - ANCC
- Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP-C) - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB)
- Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC) - ANCC
- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) - AANP
- Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (CPNP-AC) - Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)
